Everyday work
Trash and the audit trail
Move a record to reversible trash, restore it, and read every change in the audit trail.
Reversible trash
Only the owner can move a record to trash: Move to reversible trash at the foot of the record. A trashed record leaves the library for everyone else, but nothing is destroyed: every original, version and decision is kept.
The owner sees trashed records through Open reversible trash in the library, and brings one back with Restore from trash on the record. Active records returns to the library. Chest never empties trash on its own.
The audit trail
Chest records every change it makes: uploads, filing changes, decisions, grants, completions, trash and restores, each with who made it and when. Audit in the top bar shows the latest 300 entries. The owner sees every entry; other people see the entries for records they can access.
